About Cheng-En
Cheng-En is a B.C. Registered Clinical Counsellor and holds a double Master’s degree of Guidance and Counselling from National Changhua University of Education and Master's degree of Education-Counselling and Student Services from California State University, a BA in Psychology from National Chengchi University.
With over four years of experience supporting adults, I specialize in trauma-focused therapy, combining Attachment Theory, CBT, DBT, and Gestalt Therapy to help individuals rebuild trust and experience healing through corrective emotional experiences. I work closely with clients facing depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation brought on by life transitions, identity crises, minority stress (such as gender and sexual diversity), relationship or family conflicts, grief, and complex trauma.
Do you feel weighed down by persistent sadness or anxiety that disrupts your daily life? Are you navigating a major life transition or struggling to find your sense of identity? Do feelings of grief, loss, or unresolved conflict leave you feeling stuck or isolated? If any of these resonate, you don’t have to face them alone. I can help you untangle these overwhelming emotions, develop coping strategies, and work toward a greater sense of peace and purpose.
In addition to individual therapy, I’m trained in Structural Family Therapy, guiding couples and families toward healthier boundaries and more effective ways of connecting with one another. Whether you’re facing challenges in your relationships, family dynamics, or communication patterns, we can work together to create healthier, more fulfilling connections.
I believe that while suffering is an inevitable part of life, adversity often reveals our extraordinary resilience. As a therapist, I see myself as a companion on your journey—a safe and supportive presence to help you rediscover your strength, navigate life’s complexities, and transform pain into personal growth. Staying true to the meaning of my name—sincerity, honesty, and gratitude—I approach therapy authentically, which clients often describe as both inspiring and grounding. It’s deeply rewarding when clients, even those with the most challenging stories, reach out after therapy to share their growth and gratitude.
Born and raised in Kinmen, Taiwan—a historical frontline during the Cold War—I developed a profound interest in history and geopolitics, shaping my sensitivity to cultural diversity and intersectionality. As a first-generation immigrant, I understand the unique challenges newcomers face.
Whatever your background or beliefs, my goal is to create a nurturing space where you feel seen, heard, and empowered. Together, we can work toward the clarity and change you’re seeking. Let’s take the first step together—how can I help you begin your journey toward healing and growth?
